Graecis ἀλόη vel ξυλαλόη, aloe est aromatica, ab excellenti odore Arbor Paradisi vulgo dicta: unde thymiamatum vice adoleri, scribit Dioscorides. Pro citro arbore Atlantica, ex qua fiebant mensae citreae, a Graecis quibusdam acceptum fuisse, discimus ex Auctore Anonymo Περι ὁρίων τῆς γῆς. Forte quod agallochum maculas similes habet ligno citri: und Dio- scorides θυἱ̈νως ἐςιγμένον esse dicit etc. qui etiam lignum eius pro diapasmate Veteribus fuisse addit.
